- Launch the Task Manager by pressing all the three keys namely, Ctrl + Alt + Del simultaneously. You can also launch the Task Bar by right-clicking on the Taskbar and selecting Task Manager from the pop-up menu.
- From the TaskBar window, click on the File option. From the drop-down menu choose the Run New Task option.
- Post this, type powershell in the test box named Create new task. Checkmark the box named “Create this task with administrative privileges” and then click on Ok.
- Doing so will open the Administrative Powershell window. Type sfc /scannow in the same window and then press the Enter key.
- This will start the SFC scan, please note it might take some time for the scan to complete.
- The scan results will display three outcomes namely, “ Windows did not find any integrity violations”, and “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and repaired them”, and “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some (or all) of them” While the first two results means that there were no corrupt files the later signifies that there is some problem in the files and hence needs to be rectified.
- If you receive the third result, proceed with typing the following text in the PowerShell window i.e. “DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth”, Post this press the Enter key.
- Doing so will download the latest files and will rectify the problem. Do note, the downloading of files may take some time.

2. Reinstall The Windows Applications:
If you still face the Start Menu not working on Windows 10 PC, you can try to reinstall the Windows application that could resolve the problem. Windows apps are the apps related to the Operating System and are necessary for the smooth running of the PC.

3. Make A New User Account On Your Windows 10 PC:

- Launch the Task Manager by pressing all the three keys namely, Ctrl + Alt + Del simultaneously. You can also launch the Task Bar by right-clicking on the Taskbar and selecting Task Manager from the pop-up menu.
● From the TaskBar window, click on the File option. From the drop-down menu choose Run New Task option.
- Post this type net user NewUsername NewPassword /add in the test box named Create new task. Checkmark the box named “Create this task with administrative privileges” and then click on Ok.
- Type in the new username and password of the new user account in the place of NewUername and NewPassword fields.
This will create a new account. Restart your PC and log in to the new account and check if the Start Menu not working has been resolved or not.
4. Reinstall Start Menu:
Another possible solution to resolve the Start Menu not working problem is to reinstall the Start Menu by ending the existing StartMenuExperienceHost.exe task through the task manager and then creating a new StartMenuExperienceHost.exe task. This reinstalls the Start Menu and easily solves the problem.
5. Windows Update:
The last solution to resolving the Start Menu not working problem is to install the Windows Update if available.
Downloading and installing the Windows update, install the updated files, and fix the bugs in them, hence resolving the problem.
